Our Solar Powered Belisha beacons offer a low maintenance, zero energy and carbon free solution. As no expensive mains cabling and trenching is required, the cost of installation is considerably reduced compared to the cost of installing mains powered mains beacons – and provide environmentally friendly ongoing operation by using sunlight to operate and recharge them.
The beacons can be installed at any location that has direct access to sunlight. Designed for reliable off-grid installation using state of the art extreme low lower (XLP) components which provide ultra- low power consumption, high performance, longer life and improved reliability. The body and globe are made from vandal-proof high UV resistant polyethylene providing on-going operational reliability – at zero running costs.
Installation is very straightforward and takes less than 15 minutes – simply mount the unit on top of the 76mm diameter pole, rotate so the solar panel is pointing south and tighten the securing bolts.
Our 76mm dia. x 4 Metre Black & White ground planted pole is recommended for use with our Solar Belisha Beacon kit. Installation of the pole is as normal – install the pole 600mm deep in the ground/concrete foundation – or in a 76mm dia. Retention Socket
Optional Extras
76mm Dia. Black & White Pole
76mm diameter galvanised steel pole x 4m long. The poles are powder coated black and feature 4 no. High Intensity white reflective bands each 300mm high
76mm Retention Socket
If required, the poles can be installed in a retention socket, allowing for quick and easy replacement in the event of damage from a vehicle impact
Additional Solar Panel Kit
Prior to installation, Customers should check that visibility looking to the south from the location is unobstructed. This is important as the beacons operate on direct sunlight. If it is obstructed, the additional Solar Panel kit will help overcome the lack of sunlight
Globe Shroud
This is an option for installations within or near residential areas. The shroud partially covers the globe, therefore reducing light pollution which might affect any nearby residents.
