Our Solar-Powered Flood Detection System combines custom water-level monitoring equipment with advanced warning signage positioned on approaches to flood-prone areas. When rising river levels reach a point where flooding of the adjacent roadway is likely, the system is triggered. A wireless signal is immediately transmitted to high-visibility, solar-powered warning signs installed nearby.
Once activated, the signs enter Active Mode. Each sign is equipped with built-in radar that detects approaching vehicles, triggering the display of a “ROAD FLOODED” warning in both Irish and English. This message is delivered using high-intensity flashing red LEDs to maximise driver awareness.
The radar-based activation ensures efficiency, particularly as flood conditions may persist for extended periods. The warning remains active for a pre-set duration when activated, giving drivers sufficient time to stop safely and avoid the hazard.
This system significantly reduces the risk of motorists inadvertently entering flooded areas and helps minimise traffic disruption. Fully solar-powered, it operates independently of the electrical grid, offering an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solution.
